Meet Rob Docherty:
The Man Behind the Massage
Rob’s career path hasn’t been linear—it’s been a wild, wonderful mosaic. After 12 years of service in the British Army, he explored everything from administration to cabaret performance, from art tutoring to life modelling and dance teaching. Each chapter added texture and perspective to a life rich in movement, expression, and resilience.
In 2015, Rob left behind the 9–5 office grind to follow a new calling in health and fitness. What began as Rob Docherty Fitness soon grew into more than just personal training. With experience leading sessions for groups like British Military Fitness and Kirklees Active Leisure, Rob discovered a deeper passion for helping people feel whole and well.
That journey expanded again in 2018, when he founded Rob Docherty Massage, combining sports massage expertise with an evolving toolkit that responded directly to his clients’ needs.
In July 2024, Rob graduated from Leeds Trinity University with First Class Honours in Sports Therapy and Rehabilitation—a proud moment that marked the culmination of years of dedication. Just ahead of this achievement, he retired his previous brands on 31st December 2023 and launched Docherty Wellbeing on New Year’s Day, complete with a fresh logo, inviting new colour scheme, and a purpose-built space to deliver holistic care.
These days, whether he’s guiding clients as a Personal Trainer, supporting recovery as a Sports Therapist, or providing deeply personalised massage, Rob brings care, humour, and grounded expertise to every session.
And when he’s not helping others feel their best? You’ll probably find him knee-deep in mud at an obstacle race, gliding across a Blues and Smooth dance floor—or carefully painting his Warhammer 40K miniatures with monk-like focus and joy.
