INJURY REHABILITATION

What is an Injury Rehabilitation session?

Injury Rehabilitation is designed to help alleviate pain and discomfort from injured or dysfunctional joints and muscles.  Using varying techniques (dependant upon the particular issues being addressed) it may involve manual manipulation of the surface and deeper muscles of a specific area of the body, along with stretches and mobilisation exercises.

These sessions are very specific to injury rehabilitation and joint dysfunction and are best applied to those issues only. If you’re looking for a relaxing massage to relieve stress and generally tight muscles, this is not it, and you should look at my Full Body Relaxation Massage page here.

What should I expect from an Injury Rehabilitation session?

An Injury Rehabilitation session usually lasts up to an hour (dependant upon the issue) and will begin with some movement screening to identify the areas of pain and areas which may be causing the pain (often not the same place).  The session length can be extended if necessary. Depending on what comes to light, the remainder of the session will consist of a mix of massage, mobilisation exercises for the joint, stretching of the muscles and you may also be shown some exercises and stretches that you can perform on yourself to further aid in your recovery.

What should I wear for an Injury Rehabilitation session?

This will depend upon the area to be looked at; if it is a leg issue you should wear shorts for example, for a shoulder problem wear a vest top or sports bra.  Alternatively, you can come prepared to undress the affected area, as towels will be provided to cover you as necessary.
